St.Gregory CYO Mission Statement
The mission of St.Gregory CYO is to provide the highest quality programs to our young people within the Catholic Parish environment. We are committed to providing these programs based on integrity, fair play and the right of all individuals to participate. We strive to provide an enjoyable and educational experience for all those involved through a fun but structured environment. We view our responsibility as extending far beyond the mere teaching of athletic skills. Our programs offer the opportunity to develop moral standards in all of our young people not only in the game of basketball but also life lessons to carry on in the future.
We encourage patience and tolerance among coaches and parents when developing the athletic skills of young players. Youth Basketball is just one component of the St.Gregory comprehensive youth ministry program which enables the partnership of parents, priests, religious, teachers and adult leaders to manage and support a sports program that allows the youth of our parish to grow in their relationship with God and come to better understand themselves and the Catholic faith.
St.Gregory CYO offers 2 programs throughout the fall and winter time. The CYO Travel Program is a competitive program which requires a tryout, multiple practices a week and competition against other CYO parishes around Rockland County. The Intramural program which is a recreational basketball program open to any boy or girl Grades 1-5. All Intramural games are played on Saturdays. More information can be found under the CYO Season Information tab about each program with more information.
Thank you all for being part of the CYO community. It is through the commitment, time and effort of our volunteers and participants that we are able to achieve the CYO mission. St.Gregory CYO is made up of dedicated coaches and volunteers who not only provide basketball knowledge, but also teach values such as good sportsmanship, saftey, fair play, hard work, and team work.
The Catholic Youth Organization of the Archdiocese of New York is a division of Catholic Charities Community Services. St.Gregory CYO is apart of CYO of Rockland County.
